International Tiger Day 2018
On 29th July is the International Tiger Day, observed every year since 2010 when it was first created at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit.

This year, on this occasion, The Nature Volunteers (TNV) held a film screening for the students of The Daly College, Indore. The programme was held at the Dhirubhai Ambani Auditorium in Daly College on 27th Aug, 2018 and was attended by all the boarders, the staff, including the Principal Shri Neeraj Bedhotiya and Vice Principal Shri Ahmed Ansari. The film screened on this occasion was ‘The truth about Tigers’ by Shekhar Dattatreya. The film, very beautifully and vividly told the tale of a tiger from the time it was born to the day it dies. It gave insight into the life of tigers, the growing threat to its habitat from human beings and the need to protect our national animal, besides a lot of detailed information about it.

The Tiger Day was started to raise awareness of the decline of wild tiger numbers, leaving them on the brink of extinction and to encourage the celebration around the important work of Tiger conservation.

This programme on the International Tiger Day is part of the efforts of TNV to create awareness in our society regarding nature and environment and to make it a better place to live in.

The programme started with Daly College felicitating President TNV, Padmashri Shri Bhalu Mondhe for his efforts and contributions in the field of environment and nature.
The audience was introduced to TNV briefly – its vision and mission by Mrs Vindhyeshwari Kumari, Joint Secretary TNV.

Subsequently, Shri Dev Kumar Vasudevan, Secretary TNV, spoke about the Importance of the Tiger and the Tiger Day. That was followed by Shri Sajid Lodi, member TNV and Daly College Tennis coach informing the audience about the Project Tiger and the present scenario regarding the Tiger.

The 40 minute film followed, which kept the audience captivated. After the film there was a brief session where the students asked the experts some questions regarding Tigers. Next, there was a quiz for the students. Shri Lodi conducted it and the correct answers were given prizes.

The evening came to a close with the Vice Principal, Shri Ansari giving a vote of thanks to TNV.
